Most dynamic neighborhoods
NOMAD
Just West of VU is NoMad, a hip, fashion forward neighborhood known for its upscale nightlife, high end hotels, and curated boutiques. Nightlife abounds in NoMad, whether it’s moody cocktails at the trendy The Library Bar, speakeasy spirits at Patent Pending, or cask pulled pints at the Breslin, a great night out is always delivered. Visiting friends and family will be spoiled with the many options in high end hospitality, including: The Ace Hotel, The NoMad Hotel, Arlo, and Made Hotel to name a few. Curated boutiques and shops are peppered throughout NoMad, among them are Rizzoli Bookstore, Opening Ceremony, WANT Apothecary, and Le Labo. NoMad strikes a perfect balance of fancy and fun, creative and professional, edgy and chic.
FLATIRON
Named after one of the most recognized pieces of architecture in Manhattan, the Flatiron Building, this bustling neighborhood is a culinary hot spot, a hub for tech companies, a fitness fanatic’s dream, and magnet for big brand retail. Just minutes South West of VU, Flatiron is an everyday destination where you can satisfy all of your consumer cravings, literally. A neighborhood where you can go from a high intensity class at Shadow Box to a Michelin-rated brunch at Eleven Madison Park, stroll down Fifth Avenue for all things high end, experience world renown-art installations in the middle of Madison Square Park, and grab your favorite Italian treats at Eataly, all in a single afternoon. The Flatiron neighborhood is energetic, cultured, and cool, with a new age spirit that complements its iconic landscape.
GRAMERCY
Gramercy takes its name from Gramercy Park, the most exclusive and last remaining members-only park in Manhattan. Studded with nineteenth century Italianate and Greek Revival limestone mansions and lush tree lined streets, the neighborhood exudes a sense of ease, refinement, and old-world charm. With Maialino, Gramercy Tavern, Casa Mono, and Upland only a few blocks south of VU, local dining options are of the highest standard. Cocktails are quieter in Gramercy, but if entertainment is of interest, shows are always on rotation at the Gramercy Theater, Irving Plaza, and Webster Hall. Polished and elegant, Gramercy offers a romantic night out or a quiet Sunday stroll.
KIPS BAY
Just outside of VU is Kips Bay, a true New York neighborhood where youthful spirit meets old school soul. On one block you have classic Institutions like the 2ND Ave Deli that have been serving local classics the same way for over half a century, while just down the street Simon & The Whale is serving modern global cuisine and crafted cocktails inside the Freehand Hotel. This is the kind of neighborhood where the corner store knows your name and your dry cleaners wave to you when you walk by—it’s a neighborhood neighborhood. The best kept secret of the area is the East River greenway, a lush park that runs uptown and downtown, giving residents the perfect place to pursue fitness and leisure activities. Kips Bay is easy, relaxed, and vibrant and with a walk score of 98 and close proximity to midtown, it offers residents the ultimate in convenience.
